The Four-Week Cushion Method divides each monthly bill by 4 for weekly pay or by 2 for biweekly pay. Because a year has 52 weeks, this gradually creates an extra month of bill funding across the year, assuming all paychecks arrive. Twice-monthly and monthly pay do not create this extra cushion. The Average Method spreads 12 months of bills evenly over your annual paychecks. Neither method guarantees bills are covered on their due dates: you may need money already in your bills account, especially when starting. Remaining paycheck money excludes expenses you have not entered.
